I'M IN AND NOW I’m teaching students emerging business, technology, and leadership concepts and practices.
Describe your educational and professional background.
My career spans over 35 years of technical and leadership positions in government, industry, and academic environments. I have a diverse background coupled with operational experience which gives me an extremely broad insight from a technology, leadership, and business perspective. My career began in the military supporting aircraft electronic systems during the Vietnam Era. I have managed the development and implementation of space-based and terrestrial communication and sensor systems. I am also a retired U.S. Air Force Officer where I served as commanding officer of a large mobile logistics support group for a military airlift organization. My industry experience includes Fortune 500, Start-up and businesses undergoing complete operational and technology transformation initiatives. I have held research and development, program management, systems integration, operations, chief engineer and executive level positions. My academic experience includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in business, technology and leadership since 1988. My research interests include aligning technology organizations with business vision and direction; Nanotechnology; organizational science; systems life-cycle development; and improving an organization’s competitive profile. I have been a weekly guest speaker on a business radio talk show in Colorado regarding emerging technologies, published numerous journal articles and presented to both local and national professional organizations. Recently, I was selected to serve as an expert reviewer for the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program for the Department of Commerce. I am currently the Chair of the Business and Management Department at the CTU Sioux Falls campus.
How do you use this experience to help CTU students achieve their goals?
My diverse background in government, industry and academic environments along with an advanced education provides the student with a powerful combination of experience, skills, and scholarly activities not found in many educational institutions. My courses are crafted so the student can draw and benefit from my portfolio and apply it in their jobs. My goal is to make each and every student successful and really bring about change in their lives.
What impresses you most about CTU students?
They remind me of myself. They are passionate and are searching for purpose, knowledge, skills and the need for continuing and furthering their education. They work hard, have families, and are willing to sacrifice to achieve the next level of excellence in their personal lives and professions.
