I'M IN AND NOW my greatest passion is being an educator and helping others achieve their dreams.
Describe your educational and professional background.
I bring together years of practical and academic experience. This includes managerial roles on international projects, patents, journal publishing, and teaching. I hold AS, BS, MS, DCS degrees in math and computer science and have over 25 combined years of industry experience as a project manager with IBM, a MIS director, IT architect, and an application, system, and development programmer. I've taught for 14 years at three universities and have also held dean, campus director, and acting VPAA positions. Currently, I am an adjunct instructor for computer science and IT at Colorado Technical University.
How has CTU been part of your educational and professional path?
I was set to start my Ph.D. at Syracuse University and then IBM, where my husband and I both worked, moved us to Colorado. After researching a few Ph.D. and doctorate programs in Colorado, I determined CTU was accredited and the best fit for me. Tying my educational goals into work goals really focused me. As an adjunct professor of computer science and IT, I'm now able to delivery relevant curriculum aimed at enabling our students for tomorrow's careers.
How does higher education help individuals work toward their professional goals?
We're teaching real-life lessons and incorporating what a company might ask you to do. In classes students have an opportunity to develop a project that is both professional and career relevant. The completed key assignment projects can reside in an electronic portfolio for potential employers to view. CTU students, in general, have worked extremely hard in their lives and jobs and are very dedicated individuals. They are driven by a common purpose, a goal or set of goals to learn and then achieve in their selected career paths.
