Steve M.'s Story

Steve M.

Faculty member

Employer: Colorado Technical University

Job Title: Computer Science Professor

I'M IN AND NOW I'm giving back. I've had a lot of help along the way in my life and do my best to encourage others to realize their potential.

Describe your educational and professional background.

I have earned a BBA from Saint Mary's University, Applied Information Technology degree from The Institute of Information Technology, and an MBA from Kaplan. I'm currently working at Siemens as an Enterprise Architect and have previous experience working for companies like Oracle, Beyond Petroleum, the City of Dallas, Texas Health Resources and Burlington Resources.

How do you use this experience to help CTU students achieve their goals?

It's very rewarding to help students discover the potential they have within themselves. In the Intro to Programming Class, I've helped many students who come into the class with zero coding experience go on to write working applications. The biggest reward is helping them achieve something that did not think they were capable of doing.

What impresses you most about CTU students?

So many of our students are keen on improving their position in life or at work. They inspire me in their dedication to learn in spite of challenging situations. Most of them juggle work and life to some degree and are committed to improving themselves.
